What we've done so far
Town Centre expert Chris Wade from The People and Places Partnership has carried out a range of research to look at local use of Selby's high street from both businesses and residents' perspectives. From his findings he's created a report which can be viewed here.
We've met with stakeholders from regional and local level to discuss their passions, properties and possibilities for contributing to a Selby Town Enterprise Partnership (STEP). The partnership includes local businesses and communities who work together to deliver "quick wins" as well as, help shape longer term plans around key themes for the high street. The 'Forward Framework' formalises this thinking and includes a business plan which defines how partners will work together. The developing framework can be viewed here.
The ongoing work involves understanding three key elements: gathering evidence, creating partnerships and turning around the town.
Following the year of Selby950 celebrations the STEP partnership has started to develop Selby town events to compliment the towns existing activity and build on from the Selby950 legacy.
STEP will also work with a newly formed Heritage, Environment and Culture working group. The working group will become involved in future growth and access projects and the Heritage Action Zone.
