Competition Rules

General, Entrants and Entries

  1. By entering and taking part in the competition, entrants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by these rules as amended from time to time.

  2. The Competition is open to any business or home located within the boundary of Tadcaster Town.

  3. Only one entry per business or home is permitted.

  4. Employees and Councillors of Selby District Council and their immediate families are not eligible to enter the Competition.

  5. Entries must be submitted to Selby District Council by midday on Tuesday 25 April 2016.  Entries should be submitted by email to the address or the Council’s Facebook page or Twitter feed (by tagging @SelbyDC)

  6. When entering by email, entrants must provide a contact telephone number so that you may be contacted in the event that the entry is chosen as a winner.

  7. In the event of any dispute regarding these rules, the conduct or the results of the competition, or any other matter relating to the competition, the judges’ decision will be final and unchallengeable and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into, comment issued, or reason given in respect of any decision made by the judges.

  8. Selby District Council reserves the right to cancel or amend all or any part of the competition and/or the rules without notice for any event that is outside of Selby District Council’s reasonable control. Any changes to the rules, or cancellation of the competition, will be posted on the Selby District Council Twitter feed and Facebook page. 

Competition winners

  1. Winner(s) will be contacted by telephone, Twitter or Facebook. 
  2. All winners unconditionally agree (as a condition of accepting any prize) to: (a) the use of their name, one or more photographs of themselves; and (b) co-operate with or participate in any other reasonable post-competition publicity.
  3. The winning details will be published on the District Council's website, shared with the local media (newspapers, radio stations) and publicised via social media.


  1. Selby District Council accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss, injury (other than our liability for personal injury or death as a result of our negligence) or disappointment of any kind suffered by any entrant in entering the competition, including as a result of any entrant winning or not winning.

  2. Selby District Council accepts no responsibility for entries lost, damaged or delayed in the post, or due to computer error in transit.  Entries made online using methods generated by a script, macro or the use of automated devices will be void.

  3. You agree that Selby District Council (and any third party authorised by Selby District Council) may use your entry and personal information that you provide with your entry for the purpose of the competition (whether or not it wins the competition) for any promotional purpose and to promote the competition before, during and after the Tour de Yorkshire (for example, placing it on the Selby District Council website, Twitter feed or Facebook page or on any poster, leaflet or other advertising media).  Any personal information relating to entrants will be used solely by Selby District Council in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.
