Tadcaster, is a small market town with a big personality.  Half way between York and Leeds, the town is home to three famous breweries dating back to at least the 14th century.  They draw their water from the River Wharfe, as it makes its way through the heart of Yorkshire from the Dales to the Ouse south of York and eventually into Humber.  It’s a real cyclists’ town too, surrounded by ideal cycling country of gently rolling hills including the nearby site of the Battle of Towton.  The town is home to two independent bike shops and there are a range of small independent shops and cafes too, offering exactly the right type of respite from a day in the saddle.
