Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA)

The Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) forms part of the evidence base for the Selby District Local Plan by providing a factual survey of potential housing development sites that will inform the Sites Allocations Document known as ‘Plan Selby’. The survey of sites and the criteria used to assess them also informs the calculation of housing supply in the annual 5 Year Housing Land Supply reports (5YHLS).

Please note that the SHLAA does not allocate land for development or determine whether a site will be allocated for housing. The inclusion of potential sites within the SHLAA should not be taken to imply that the sites will be allocated for housing or looked upon favourably when determining planning applications. The decision to allocate will be made through the emerging Plan Selby Site Allocations Document.

The 2008 SHLAA is available to view below. Together with the Final Report, information is displayed split into Parishes - with a record of all potential sites in the Parish, individual site assessment summaries for sites and corresponding location maps.

You can view the complete district map, or select the parish or town below where you wish to view assessment summaries and maps.

Sites listed in the report as in abeyance (i.e. not part of the potential housing supply due to a major constraint) are shown on parish maps, but are not accompanied by any other assessment or mapping

Each site is supplemented by an additional analysis summary to draw out more detailed conclusions about future land supply for the district. Please select a Parish to view the related SHLAA documents.
