Selby District’s Cultural Development Framework

Selby District is a great place to live, work and visit. This is because of our wonderful people, our deeply rich heritage and our ambition to create a culture of culture!

Selby District Council commissioned Beam, an arts organisation based in Yorkshire, to develop a Cultural Development Framework. As part of this, Beam spoke directly to individuals and organisations throughout the district to understand their cultural needs and priorities. The team then carried out wider public consultation to find out more about what the communities of the district of Selby feel about culture and what they’d like to see in the future.

Selby district is designated an Arts Council England national Priority Place for support and investment. The framework forms the foundations as our guiding document in our development of the district as a great cultural place, and will be used to support us to develop our local creative sector skills, opportunities to collaborate and to lever investment.
