Recycle with charity shops

Charity shops are a great way to get rid of unwanted items in good condition. Here is a list of the types of things they can take:

  • Toner cartridges
  • Mobile phones
  • Foreign currency
  • Hearing aids
  • Spectacles
  • Clothes for all ages and occasions
  • Home furnishings, including curtains and linen
  • Bric-a-brac or knick-knacks
  • Toys, books and games
  • Accessories, such as jewellery, hats and shoes

North Yorkshire County Council have produced a handy directory to help you find the nearest charity shop, or furniture reuse organisation in your area, including the range of items they accept and their ability to collect or deliver items.
