An open letter to local government staff and volunteers across Yorkshire and the Humber

Yorkshire and umber Councils the voice of our region. Green background with white writing.

These past 18 months have been difficult for everyone – a global pandemic of the likes we will hopefully never see again, that has challenged the ‘everyday’ that we take for granted. It has been especially challenging for those working and volunteering in the local government sector and, while there is light at the end of the tunnel, we are not yet there. In the meantime you continue to do everything you can to ensure our communities and residents are safe and to keep our businesses open, often going above and beyond to keep our towns, villages and cities running. Thank you so much.

The dedication shown by you all in such difficult circumstances has been truly heroic and, on 4 July 2021 – national Thank You Day in the United Kingdom – we want to pay tribute to every member of the local government family. As Chief Executives of local authorities across the Yorkshire and Humber region, we have never been prouder of our teams. You have our heartfelt thanks for everything you have done.

Warmest regards

Kersten England, on behalf of Yorkshire and Humber Council Chief Executives
