Improvements unveiled for Selby’s leisure centre and the Summit

Councillor Crane and Selby Leisure Centre staff with the new gym equipment

Brand new facilities are now available at Selby Leisure Centre and the Summit Indoor Adventure following a £230,000 investment by Selby District Council.

These include new party rooms with space for dining and new studios for children’s fitness classes or larger group exercises classes, including mind and body classes. The gym facilities have also been extended.

The developments were made in direct response to the demand for these facilities by leisure centre members and visitors.

The extended gym is packed with the latest Technogym equipment including SKILLROW, SKILLBIKE and SKILLMILL. A new Tanita machine will be installed to bring fast, accurate body composition results.

Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles Director Pete Burt said, “These exciting changes provide us with more usable space across the sites and allow us to meet the growing demand for exercise classes, parties and events.

“We’ve made these changes in direct response to what customers have told us they want to see at the site and I’m delighted they’re ready for use by local people.”

Cllr Mark Crane, Leader of the Council and the executive member with responsibility for leisure services, said: “These new facilities give people in Selby and surrounding area the space they really want from their leisure facilities. We’re building on what we know the local people want to use when they visit their local leisure facilities.”
