Consultation launched on gambling policy

Selby District Council has launched a consultation on its gambling policy as part of a three-year review.

The trade, members of the public and a range of partner agencies and stakeholders are being encouraged to share their views.

The Council is responsible for the licensing of certain gambling premises and all types of gaming machine permits in the district. As part of this role, it must review the gambling policy every three years.

Councillor Tim Grogan, Selby District Council's Lead Executive Member for Health and Culture, said: “Our licensing objectives focus on protecting children and vulnerable people from being exploited, and ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way.

“After considering our existing policy we don’t propose any major changes. However, we would like to hear the views of as many people as possible to allow us to ensure an effective licensing system is maintained.”
