Members of the title-winning Selby Disability Football Club have been awarded certificates of achievement from Selby District Council marking their outstanding contribution to sport in Selby.
Cllr Chris Pearson, Lead Executive Member for Housing, Health and Culture, presented the awards to the team last week.
Among those honoured was Mencap GB star Billy Hobson went to Geneva last week to take part in the European Championships and his call-up has been an inspiration to many - whilst also capturing the imagination of the community of Selby.
The team recently won the West Riding Ability Counts League Five title.
Cllr Pearson commented, “Congratulations to the whole team for their sporting success. They’ve inspired lots of us in the community and I’m delighted to be able to present their certificates to them.”
Team manager James Grayson added, “It means a great deal to the team to receive these certificates. They’re over the moon with how their season has gone and we’re looking forward to next season already.”
