Additional support and guidance available for Selby District’s small businesses

An emergency fund of £20,000 has been invested by Selby District Council to provide a number of small businesses in Selby District with free 12 months membership to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).

The Federation of Small Businesses offers members a wide range of vital businesses services, including cyber protection, crisis management, debt recovery, legal advice and financial expertise, including access to funding opportunities.

Around 100 businesses will be able to access the free membership and demand is likely to be high, so businesses will need to apply via SDC and are encouraged to do so as soon as possible.

Selby District Council’s Leader, Councillor Mark Crane, said “Supporting our local businesses through the Coronavirus crisis is of paramount importance and whilst we’ve been working hard to process business rate relief and pay business support grants, we recognise there are businesses in the district that this doesn’t apply to.”

"The Federation of Small Businesses can provide vital support and guidance, which is particularly important during these uncertain times. I am very pleased that we're able to offer this additional support for our local businesses and I'm sure they'll greatly benefit from this membership."

The free membership offer is available for businesses within the district, with 10 employees or less and is only available for new FSB members. Businesses will need to apply, using the application form that can be found on the council's website, providing a brief summary of their business.
