As part of the period of National Morning, there will be a one-minute silence on Sunday 18 September at 8pm.
Service of Commemoration
There will be a service of Commemoration for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Selby Abbey on Sunday 18 September at 3pm. People from across the district are invited to come along to remember and give thanks for the Queen’s life and reign.
Representatives will include Chief Executive Janet Waggott, deputy chairman Cllr Mike Jordan, deputy leader Cllr Richard Musgrave. Others invited include our councillors, town mayors and honorary aldermen and representatives from parish councils as well as from North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue services.
Anyone wishing to lay floral tributes in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, is welcome to do so in the grounds of Selby Abbey.
Flowers can also be taken to All Saints Church in Sherburn in Elmet.
Book of condolence
A book of condolence has been opened at Selby Abbey and is available for any member of the public to sign and pay their respects.
The Abbey will be open from 9am to 7pm seven days a week. The book will remain open until 5pm on Tuesday 20 September.
Books of condolence are also available at All Saints Church in Sherburn in Elmet and Sherburn Methodist Church.
In Tadcaster books of condolence are available at St Mary's Church in Tadcaster and St Andrew's Church in Newton Kyme.

The State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19th September at 11am.
Following the funeral, there will be a two-minute silence at 11.55am.

There are some changes to North Yorkshire County Council services on the day of the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Tadcaster and Selby Leisure Centres will be closed on the day of the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Events and meetings
During the mourning period we have cancelled our public meetings, including council meetings. Alternative dates will be arranged.
These events are postponed:
Local Plan drop-in session Escrick Village Hall (was due to take place on 9 September 2-6pm), Selby Town Hall (was due to take place on 13 September 3-6pm, Eggborough Village Hall (was due to take place on 16 September 3-6pm) and Tadcaster The Barn (was due to take place 20 September 3-6pm).
