Selby District Council will focus on providing emergency services for people who need them most between Christmas and New Year.

The phone lines and non-essential services will close from 12pm on Friday 24 December until 8.30am Tuesday 4 January 2022. 

Emergency services will continue to operate – this covers things like emergency housing repairs or homelessness support.  For emergency incidents only please call 01653 600941.

Online services are unaffected and can be accessed 24 hours a day. Click here to make online payments

Waste and recycling collections 

Refuse and recycling collections will continue as normal through the Christmas period. Click here to check your collection date

Green waste collections are suspended. They stopped across the district on Friday 17 December and will restart on Tuesday, 4 January.

Leisure update 

Selby Leisure Centre opening hours 

Selby Leisure Centre will close at 10pm on Thursday 23 December. They’ll then be open again on Tuesday 28, Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 from 6.30am until 4pm. They’ll also be closed on Friday 31 December, Saturday 1 January, and Sunday 2 January. The centres will reopen on Monday 3 January from 6.30am until 7pm and regular opening times will be back in place from Tuesday 4 January.

Tadcaster Leisure centre opening hours 

Tadcaster Leisure centre will close at 9pm on Thursday 23 December. They’ll then be open again on:

  • Tuesday 28 December from 9am until 4pm
  • Wednesday 29 December from 7am until 4pm
  • Thursday 30 December from 9am until 4pm.

They’ll also be closed on Friday 31 December, Saturday 1 January, and Sunday 2 January. The centre will reopen on Monday 3 January from 7am until 4pm and Tuesday 4 January from 9am until 4pm, regular opening times will be back in place from Wednesday 5 January.
