New Local Plan

On 17 September Council gave approval for work to begin on the preparation of a new comprehensive Local Plan for Selby District utilising the evidence base and work that has already been undertaken.

The preparation of a new Local Plan will help to ensure that the Council has a robust development plan for the whole District, prepared in line with current national planning guidance which properly reflects its Economic Strategy and Corporate Priorities.

A revised Local Development Scheme which sets out the timescales for the preparation of a new Local Plan has been brought into effect and can be seen here.

Issues and Options Consultation on the Selby District Local Plan: 24th January to 6th March 2020

Selby District Council is holding a six week consultation from 24th January to 5pm on 6th March 2020 on the Local Plan Issues and Options document.

The preparation of a new Local Plan for Selby District provides the opportunity to consider what sort of place we would like Selby to be in 2040.  The plan will set out a vision and framework for future growth of the district, identifying where new housing, employment and other development will be located.  The Local Plan will also set out policies which the Council will use to determine planning applications and, once adopted, will replace the Selby District Core Strategy Local Plan (2013) and those policies that have been ‘saved’ from the Selby District Local Plan (2005).

This Issues and Options consultation is the first stage in the process and asks for comments on the key issues that have been identified and for views on alternative options for growth.  Nothing has been decided at this early stage and your views and comments are therefore very important in shaping the contents of the emerging Local Plan.
