Rural Initiative
You'll be given priority if you have a local connection to the village where the home is. If no one with a local connection is interested, we'll consider any one who is registered with North Yorkshire Home Choice.
Here's how we decide if someone has a local connection:
-
If you currently live in the village and you've lived there for 6 out of the last 12 months; or
-
you've lived within the village for at least 3 years out of the last 5 years; or
-
you're employed in the village (employment is defined as permanent full or part time; not casual or seasonal); or
-
you've an essential need to live close to another person, to provide or receive care or support, and that person has lived in the village for the last 5 years; or
-
you've a close family member who's lived in the village for the last 5 years (mother, father, adult son, adult daughter, adult brother, adult sister); or
-
you need to move to the village, when not doing so would cause hardship
Local Lettings Initiative
In line with the North Yorkshire Home Choice Allocations Policy, local lettings initiatives (LLI) may be introduced by partners to respond to local housing need and demand within a specific build or area. They are used to ensure best management of housing stock supporting rural and city areas with regards to demand and affordability and ensuring balanced sustainable communities. Where there is a specific planning agreement advertised properties will refer to a S106 planning agreement. This will provide the criteria that must be met to enable a bid for housing advertised.
The LLI will vary dependent upon circumstance. Each individual LLI will be presented, reviewed and approved by the NYHC Partnership Board. NYHC will publish the name of the local authority or landlord presenting the LLI and the name of the development, if you require further details please contact the local authority or landlord direct.
