Inclusive cycling

Inspiring healthy lifestyles and Tadcaster TEMPT are working together on an inclusive cycling project to raise awareness of the Para-Cycing International event that takes place in September, and to provide more opportunities for disabled users to try cycling.

The work involves organised trips to the Disability Hub sessions at the fantastic closed road circuit - the Brownlee Centre in Leeds, and includes free coaching provided by British Cycling registered coaches.Places are  available for everyone over the age of 16 and free transport will be provided from set locations. The sessions take place on 27 October and 24 November. For more information or to book a place please email dani.penney@ihlmail.org.

Other work includes free pop up taster sessions which will be open to all members of the public to try adapted cycling completely free of charge and in a safe space. The first one is taking place on Wednesday 11 September 6-8pm at The Barn, Manor Farm, in Tadcaster (LS24 9ND).

Additionally, Inspiring healthy lifestyles are leading on the development of inclusive cycling across the district to provide more opportunities for people to get out on their bikes following the event. Free bike maintenance workshops in Selby, Sherburn and Tadcaster have already taken place and a number of volunteers are now trained as qualified ride leaders to provide guided rides across the district. The rides will be a mixture of family friendly, women only and adult guided rides. Keep an eye out on www.letsride.co.uk to find rides near you.
