March 2020 - update

In light of the Government's latest update on dealing with the Coronavirus. Please only submit licensing applications electronically for the foreseeable future.

Applications can be scanned or photographed (you need to ensure they are readable). If you need advice or have a query about an application or licence, please email licensing: licensing@selby.gov.uk

Please do not visit the Civic Centre unannounced, as we cannot guarantee that there will be anybody available to see you. Please contact the licensing section in the first instance.


Licence Summary

If you wish to show, demonstrate or perform a hypnotism act in public, you must have authorisation from the local authority in England and Wales. You must comply with any conditions attached to an authorisation. Please see the condition relating to Selby District Council on the following link:

No. It is in the public interest that the authority must process your application before it can be granted. If you have not heard from us within 14 days, please contact us. You can do this online if you applied through the GOV.UK website.

Consumer Complaints

We would always advise that in the event of a complaint the first contact is made to us - preferably in the form a letter (with proof of delivery). If this is insufficient, if you are located in the UK the GOV.UK website will give you advice. From outside the UK contact the UK European Consumer Centre.
