A number of major events have taken place over the year including the Selby Sings performance featuring local school children, a carnival parade along Gowthorpe and a spectacular illumination event that saw the front of the Abbey dramatically lit up.

A summer season of brass band concerts featuring some of the region’s best bands has been organised by Inspiring healthy lifestyles, took place in Selby Park this year. As well as the band performances there was also traditional and fun children’s entertainment including clowns and magicians. 

Selby Library also had a full programme of events, activities and talks.

Selby Civic Society has regular meetings and themed events highlighting the Abbey and the town's history.

Selby Town Council and the Town Hall also organised events.
