European Parliamentary Elections

If the UK and Gibraltar do not leave the European Union before 23 May 2019, the European Parliamentary Elections will be taking place in the UK on Thursday 23 May 2019.

There are 751 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), and of those, 73 represent the UK. In the UK, there are currently 12 European electoral regions, with each region being represented by between 3 and 10 MEPs. Selby District is part of the Yorkshire and the Humber region, and is represented by 6 MEPs.

Polling day will be on Thursday 23 May 2019, between 7.00am and 10.00pm.

EU citizens from any member state outside the UK who are currently on the electoral register will shortly receive a UC1/EC6 form. This will be mailed to the address where they are registered to vote in the next few days. Any EU citizen who wishes to vote at the European Parliamentary elections on Thursday 23 May 2019 will need to complete this form. If you are an EU citizen and wish to vote in Selby for these elections, please complete and return the form as soon as possible.

The deadline to apply for a new postal or proxy vote, and for changes to existing postal or proxy votes, is 5pm on Wednesday 8 May 2019.
