Dog adoption - photos

Most dogs that arrive with us have been collected by our dog warden.

You can also view any dogs we have for adoption on our dedicated Facebook page - Selby District Council Lost and Hound.

We're currently looking for homes for a large number of dogs following a tragic accident.

The owner of Woodhaven Boarding  Kennels, which takes in the district’s stray dogs, died in a recent road traffic accident. Vince Roger was also the owner of a large number of dogs, which he kept as pets and to show. Vince was a well-respected judge at top dog shows including Crufts.

While homes have been found for many of his pets, there are still 11 dogs of various breeds, sizes and ages that need homes – as well as two current stray dogs at Woodhaven Kennels. The strays are a German Shepherd cross and a Lurcher, which were found in Selby and Riccall respectively.

If you think you may be able to offer a home to one of these dogs please contact Neighbourhood Officer Keith Armstrong on karmstrong@selby.gov.uk or contact Woodhaven Kennels on 01977 685404. Please ring to make an appointment before visiting.

There is an adoption fee – and home checks will also be carried out.
