This Privacy Notice is designed to help you understand how and why the Commissioning, Contracts and Procurement Team at Selby District Council processes your personal data. This notice should be read in conjunction with the Council’s Corporate Privacy Notice.

Who are we?

Selby District Council is a ‘Data Controller’ as defined by Article 4(7) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).  The Council’s Counter Fraud service is carried out by Veritau Ltd. You can find out more about Veritau on their website: www.veritau.co.uk.  The Council has also appointed Veritau Ltd to be its Data Protection Officer. This service is carried out by the Information Governance Team. The Commissioning, Contracts and Procurement Team are responsible for the management of a number of the Council’s outsourced services. These include environmental services (including waste and recycling), leisure services and pest control.

What personal information do we collect?

In order for us to carry out and maintain waste and recycling services (including assisted collections, medical waste collections and bulky waste collection services), provide treatment for pests and provide leisure services we will collect some personal data.  This consists of your name, address, phone number, email address, number of people in your household and details about your personal circumstances in relation to the above services.

Why do we collect your personal information?

The personal data is collected to allow us to carry out services that we are required by law to provide or that you have requested from us.  It helps us to provide efficient services, meet statutory obligations and response to enquiries and complaints.

Who do we share this information with?

Within the Council, information may be shared with other internal departments such as Customer Services.

We work with third parties to provide the above services on behalf of the Council and these organisations may have access to your personal data.

How long do we keep your information for?

Information is kept for as long as we are providing services for you and/or in order to resolve any future queries.

What is our lawful basis for processing your information?

The provision of personal information is required from you to enable us to understand clearly the nature of your enquiry, comment or complaint or to record a compliment you may have made.

We rely on Article 6(1)(e) – Performance of a public task in the public interest, to collect and use your personal information.

The Council does not directly process health data for assisted collections or medical waste collections however the Council is indirectly processing information which alludes to a health condition.  This is processed based on the Council’s legal obligations to provide these services.
