This Builders Plate from Hull trawler H277 Stella Sirius 1963 was loaned to us for use in the Selby Treasures Exhibition, with thanks to Heritage Doncaster.
Selby has a long tradition of shipbuilding. Cochrane’s, its most famous builders, opened on Ousegate in 1898 and was the last to close in 1992. Due to the narrowness of the Ouse all the Selby vessels were launched sideways, an event that became a popular spectacle in the town. Courtesy, Maritime Museum: Hull Museums
