North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) is responsible for issuing parking permits for some disabled people. This is called the blue badge scheme and is run by the Customer Relations Unit (CRU) of Social Services. Please see the NYCC website for information.
Please see the GOV.UK website for information on the scheme and how to apply.
The blue badge scheme provides a national scheme of parking concessions for people with severe walking difficulties who travel either as drivers or passengers. The scheme also applies to registered blind people, and people with very severe upper limb disabilities who regularly drive a vehicle but cannot turn a steering wheel by hand. This scheme replaces the orange badge scheme.
Abuse of blue badge disabled parking permits is investigated by our counter fraud team.
