What is PLAN Selby?
PLAN Selby is the Sites and Policies Local Plan which we are developing to deliver the strategic vision outlined in the Core Strategy (adopted in 2013). When PLAN Selby is adopted it will form part of the Local Plan for the district against which planning applications will be assessed.
PLAN Selby will incorporate site allocations to promote the growth needs of the district and site specific designations and policies to manage other development proposals.
Pool of Sites Consultation: 2 October - 27 November 2017
We are preparing a Site Allocations Local Plan. It will identify enough land for the homes and jobs and other development needs in the district over the next ten years.
This Pool of Sites consultation document forms part of the process and asks for views on a wide range of sites, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to be involved in developing the detailed approach and helping decide exactly which sites we will need to allocate at the next stage.
This consultation is not a draft plan - the full Draft Site Allocations Local Plan will be published next year for consultation.
The preparation of a Site Allocations Local Plan reflects the revised approach set out in the sixth Local Development Scheme which was put into effect by Council on 19 September 2017. The Core Strategy will remain the primary policy for determining the distribution of development in the district and the Site Allocation Local Plan will identify where new development will go.
This Pool of Sites consultation includes plans and initial assessments of all possible sites that could be included in the Site Allocations Local Plan next year. It shares current thinking about potential sites and asks for your views on them. It is also a last opportunity to suggest new sites.
The Pool of Sites consultation document and supporting studies are available to view on the Plan Selby Consultation webpage.
Where Are We Now?
Preparation work on PLAN Selby began in at the end of 2013 and an Initial Consultation took place between November 2014 and January 2015. This allowed all stakeholders to share their thoughts over the key issues for planning in the Selby district.
This was followed by a Focussed Engagement which took place between June and August 2015. This allowed stakeholders to provide input into how we build up our evidence base and provided the opportunity for more detailed discussions of emerging issues and options to inform future decision making on the policies and proposals for inclusion in the plan.
We've been analysing the results from the consultations and finalising the evidence base for PLAN Selby, drafting policies and considering preferred site allocations.
We anticipate undertaking further consultation on PLAN Selby soon and will update this webpage with details once they've been agreed.
