North Yorkshire County Council's Licensing Section is responsible for licensing venues for Civil Wedding and Partnership Ceremonies.

North Yorkshire now has over 100 licensed venues offering a wide variety of choice to the couple. In 2004 alone the county was host to over 1400 weddings in licenced venues. This figure continues to increase every year as couples see the advantages of coming to North Yorkshire for their wedding.

The application must be in writing (including by electronic means) and include:

• The name and address of the applicant.
• Such other information as the local authority requires.
• A plan of the premises which clearly identifies the room or rooms in which the proceedings will occur.
