Selby Business Waste Handbook
The Business Waste Handbook, created by Selby District Council in partnership with Leeds City Council, provides specific information and tips for offices and businesses involved in catering, construction, retail, leisure and tourism, printing and manufacturing.
The handbook gives advice on reducing the amount of waste created, reusing materials and recycling as much as possible, as well as waste audits and a guide to legislation. There is also a list of organisations which can provide further information, guidance and funding to help businesses make changes.
Minimise Waste and Maximise Profit
Every company produces waste and a lot of what is produced is avoidable. Excess packaging, valuable resources and reusable items all end up in landfill sites. With UK companies generate 70% of the UK's waste every business needs to minimise the waste they produce every day.
The Government are also taking steps to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill by increasing landfill tax, by £8 per tonne each year until 2013. In 2012 landfill tax alone is £64 per tonne so reducing your waste can also save you money.
Waste disposal is fast becoming one of the biggest environmental issues that businesses face. Businesses have an important role to play in protecting and improving the environment and we can help you to do just that.
