Selby District Council is committed to paying Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support promptly and accurately to genuine claimants. We aim to protect public funds and make sure that Benefits are paid to people who have a true entitlement to them. We will act against those people that knowingly receive Benefits to which they are not entitled, this action could include prosecution.
Enforcement Team
In order to deal effectively with Benefit Fraud, Selby District Council have an Enforcement Team whose objectives are to:
- Prevent
- Detect
- Deter, and
- Take action against benefit fraudsters in Selby District.
The Enforcement Team has trained investigators. They are qualified in counter fraud activities and are committed to carrying out their duties in a professional, efficient and fair manner.
