If you hold or organise an occasional sale including a car boot sale (that is to say, not a fixed/regular trading event) within North Yorkshire, or such a sale is to be held on your premises, then you must notify North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC). Notification is required from both the organiser and the premises owners and must be given at least 21 days before the event.

Livestock sales, 'chartered' markets and events conducted by a charity are exempt.
