Who is eligible to vote?
You are eligible to be included on Selby's Register of Electors if you are a British, Irish, Commonwealth, British Dependent Territories or European Union.
18 years of age or over on 15 October or during the twelve month period when the register is in force i.e. from 1 December each year to 30 November in the following year, and
- Resident at an address within the Selby District on 15 October or have moved into the area after that date.
Citizens of European Union countries resident in the area are entitled to register and vote at local elections and also European Parliamentary elections.
Students away at college or university can register at either their college address or their home address. Remember - you can only vote once though!

You are not eligible to vote if you:
- Are a foreign national;
- Have lived or worked abroad for more than 6 months; or
- Are serving a prison sentence.
