The Housing Strategy remains responsible to the Government agenda and the needs of the local community.
The three main objectives of the strategy are to:-
- profile the District's housing stock and monitor current and future housing needs
- ensure that decent and affordable housing is available to everyone, and
- promote social inclusion and sustainable communities

The North Yorkshire Strategic Housing Board, comprising the seven Borough/District housing authorities of North Yorkshire, City of York Council and their partners, has agreed to develop the first Single Housing Strategy for North Yorkshire.
