Residents in the Selby District Council area are being reminded that there are no local elections this year.
Elections for district councillors are not due to take place until 2015. And while a number of councils around the country will hold local elections next month, these will not be taking place in the Selby district.
The next election dealt with by the electoral team at the council will be for the new role of police and crime commissioner in November. This will be followed by elections for North Yorkshire County Councillors in May 2013.
Elections Officer for Selby District Council, Richard Besley explained, "While no elections are taking place in the near future this is a good time for residents in the district to ensure their details are up to date and correct on the electoral roll.
"This is particularly important for any residents who have moved house or households with young people about to turn 18 who may wish to vote in the November election."
The Electoral Services team at Selby District Council looks after the administration and preparation of all elections in the district on behalf of the Returning Officer.
All it takes is a quick phone call or email to check the right details are registered about your household. If the council doesn't have the right details then you won't get sent the correct polling card in November and you could lose your right to vote.
If you have any questions about your own voter registration, please contact Selby District Council's elections team on 01757 292227 or email electoralregistration@selby.gov.uk.
