The new Chair and Vice Chair of Selby District Council will begin their new roles at the authority's Annual Council meeting to be held on Tuesday 20 May.
Cllr Jude Thurlow will become Chairman of the Council and Cllr Ian Chilvers will become Vice Chair. Over the past twelve months Cllr Joyce Dyson has taken the role of Chair of the Council. Each year the Chair chooses to support a number of local charities and during her time in the role Cllr Dyson has raised approximately £8,000 for local causes.
In advance of taking the role of Chairman, Cllr Thurlow said:
"It's a great honour to become Chairman of Selby District Council - it's an opportunity to take a leading role to benefit the local community. We have a long tradition of Council Chairmen taking an active interest in many different aspects of the local community and I look forward to being able to do this over the next year.
"In line with previous Chairmen I have chosen three charities to support over the forthcoming year - the Selby branch of the British Heart Foundation, Selby DIAL and the Selby and York Alzheimer's Society."
Cllr Thurlow continued:
"I would like to thank Cllr Dyson for her hard work in the role over the last year; she has been a real credit to the authority and the local community and has worked tirelessly for her chosen charities to raise a significant amount of money." |
