| Important Change to Rent Collection |
| 27 February 2004 |
|
|
| Considerable changes have taken place since April 2003 and most of our tenants are now paying their rent by direct debit or using a post office plastic payment card. Rent arrears have reduced dramatically by 34% since the introduction of these additional methods of payment.
The council is keen to look at alternative methods of payment to ensure that we keep the cost of collecting your rent to a minimum.
To achieve further savings, from the beginning of April 2004 you will no longer receive the old style rent card. During the last week of March you will receive a rent notification letter which will show your weekly rent payable, reference number and the" non-rent weeks."
Tenants who continue to use the council's payment offices will still receive a receipt for their payment. If you are still reliant on your rent card when making payment please contact us to discuss alternative arrangements.
If you still pay your rent by cheque you may find paying by direct debit more convenient. The current methods of payment are shown below:
PAYING YOUR ACCOUNT—YOUR RENT IS DUE & PAYABLE WEEKLY IN ADVANCE
