Residents have a chance to influence where development could take place in the Selby district in what is called the “Site Allocations Local Plan” consultation, which forms part of the authority’s long-term planning policy documents.
Selby District Council has launched a consultation over possible sites for development to meet Selby’s need for homes, jobs and shops up to 2027. These sites are known as ‘allocations.’
Last year, the Council asked for views during a major consultation exercise on a range of sites in its Pool of Sites consultation document. As a result of this consultation a further 48 sites were submitted for consideration along with amendments to five previous sites. The Council is now running a consultation on these additional and amended sites.
This latest consultation ensures that these additional sites are subject to the same level of scrutiny as those publicised in last year’s consultation.
The consultation is part of a long-term planning process that involves the local community in planning decisions and helps other organisations decide where they need to invest in services and infrastructure.
Leader of the Council, councillor Mark Crane, said, “The purpose of the consultation is to ensure these sites are subject to the same level of scrutiny as the sites we consulted on last year. It’s important to remember no decisions have yet been made about any sites and that’s why it’s important that residents and businesses get involved in this consultation.”
This Additional Sites consultation runs until 19 April 2018. Documents can be viewed at Council Offices and Tadcaster, Sherburn in Elmet and Barlby Libraries during normal working hours or at your local Community Engagement Forum. Please note that the deadline for submitting new sites has past and that we will not be assessing any that are submitted to us.
Comments must be received by 5pm on Thursday 19 April 2018 in order to be considered by the Council. Representations should be made in writing using the comments form and sent by email to email@example.com or by post to the Planning Policy Team, Selby District Council, Civic Centre, Doncaster Road, Selby, YO8 9FT.
The Additional Sites consultation document and supporting studies are available to view on the PLAN Selby Consultation webpage.
