How can I represent on Licensing Act 2003 applications?

New applications for a premise licence/club premise certificate

Correspondence can be sent to the Licensing Authority in support of any application, however if you feel that you are likely to be adverseley affected by any application made for a premise licence/club premise certificate, as the granting of such a licence will undermine any of the below-Licensing objectives you can lodge your concerns to the Licensing Authority:

  • Prevention of crime and disorder
  • Protection of children from harm
  • Public safety
  • Prevention of public nuisance

If you wish to make a representation or offer support to any application you can do so in writing to the licensing authority:

All correspondence must contain your full name and address and detail your points clearly, providing any evidence you may have in support of your representation.

These representations must be received by the licensing authority before the end date of the representation period for the application, the applicant will receive a copy of all representations made.

Following receipt of a valid representation, applications will be determined by the licensing committee at a hearing.

If you feel that you are likely to be affected by any application made for a premises licence, because you feel the granting of such a licence will undermine any of the below-licensing objectives you can lodge your concerns to the Licensing Authority.

  • Preventing gambling from being associated with crime or disorder or being used to support crime
  • Ensuring gambling is conducted in a fair and open way
  • Protecting children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited through gambling.

The Licensing Authority cannot accept any representations on moral grounds or any which are vexatious or frivolous.

Representations must be received before the end of the 28 day representation period specified above.

Please be aware if you make a representation that this will be in the public domain and that at the end of the representation period, the applicant will receive a copy of all representations made although your name and address can be witheld if requested.

Following the receipt of a valid representation, applications will be determined by the licensing commitee at a hearing.
