This website would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of
the staff employed by Selby District Council. A special thanks to all involved. |

The Selby Camera Club was initially formed as the Selby Photographic Society in
1887, i.e. only 47 years after the invention of photography by William Henry Fox
Talbot. The Society was renamed Selby Camera Club in approximately 1890, and has
been in existence ever since.
Selby Camera Club is an active member of the Yorkshire Photographic Union (Y.P.U.)
and of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (P.A.G.B.)
In May 1994, what was originally thought to be the Club's centenary year, Selby
Camera Club hosted the 95th annual assembly and exhibition of the Yorkshire Photographic
Union - a great success.
At the August bank holiday each year, the Club organizes it's own annual print and
slide exhibition, displayed in Selby Abbey. This is then followed up by a selection
of the annual exhibition prints being displayed in Selby library for a further 10
days. |
