My role as a town councillor
In October 2006, I achieved 25 years as a town councillor. I have also been a volunteer for Selby and District Concern for many years, as well as a member of the Selby and District United Charities.
I have always considered myself a nuts and bolts councillor - at ground zero, my role is helping the general public. Over the years I have been able to help many people myself as well as directing them to other organisations who could assist.
Having been a councillor for many years, it's as well to remember that you are only as good as your last job, whether it be a success or a failure.
