Planning Committee

The role of the Planning Committee is to:

  • Carry out the policy framework for planning-development management as set down by Council and the Policy and Resources Committee
  • Deal with all development management and associated issues connected to the development of the area under the Town and Country Planning Acts and directly associated statutes. This applies to areas within the District and outside the District where appropriate.

Schedule of Planning Committee Meetings

Planning Committee usually meets on a Wednesday at 2:00pm. However, changes and cancellations do sometimes occur so please check beforehand if you are interested in attending.

Public Speaking at Planning Committee

Only one person representing each of the following is allowed to speak for five minutes on each application:

      - Agent/Applicant
      - Objector
      - Parish Councillor
      - Ward Councillor

To register, please contact Democratic Services on 01757 705101. The deadline to register is normally 3pm on the second working day prior to the day of the meeting (i.e. for a meeting on a Wednesday, the deadline would be 3pm on Monday). Registration to speak at Planning Committee will only open once the agenda for the meeting has been published online. No LATE notification will be accepted and speakers CANNOT register on the day. Please note, if an application is deferred to a future Committee meeting, you will need to re-register to speak for the meeting the application is considered at. There will be no speakers 'carried over' to future meetings.
